Start here! Introduction to Aerial Silks is designed for students brand new to the aerial silks apparatus.
This class is suitable for students who are:
- Brand new to aerials and acrobatics,
- experienced in some type of aerial or acrobatic fitness, but who are unfamiliar to aerial silks.
Class Description: Students will be introduced to standard terms, concepts, and movements that will build a strong foundation to build upon. No prior training necessary. Students will focus on techniques to balance and stabilize on the silks, and will strength train the body (especially the upper body and core) which will serve as pre-requisites to climbs and inversions.
The instructor will begin class with targeted warm ups and drills. Students may arrive up to 15 minutes early for independent stretching.
Materials Covered in Class Include: how to crochet; how to grip the silks; how to L-hang; how to wrist lock; how to tie a slipknot; introduction to footlocks; how to balance off the groundn (key overs, etc) ; introduction to climbing techniques.
